About Us

The Jewish Home Auxiliary’s mission is to enrich the quality of life of the people served by the Jewish Home of Rochester. Here are some of the ways that the Auxiliary positively impacts the lives of Jewish Home residents:

  • Cafe Shalom
Each day from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, volunteers serve refreshments to residents and their guests.
  • Calendars
The Auxiliary provides residents with a Jewish calendar upon admission and again at Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year.
  • Welcome Wagon
Decorative gift bags containing a calendar, pad and pen, and a gift certificate to Leo’s Deli are given to each resident upon move-in. Patients in transitional care are greeted by a friendly visitor and given a gift certificate for the gift shop.
  • Holiday Flowers
The Auxiliary provides floral arrangements in the Goldberg Center where services are held on five major holidays, and in dining rooms on holidays.
  • Mollie Horwitz Caring Cart
Upon request, light fare is provided to families sitting in vigil.

This is just a sampling of the valuable and generous services provided by the Jewish Home Auxiliary. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the Volunteer Services Director by calling (585) 784-6551 or email volunteers@jewishhomeroch.org.
