In his role as President and CEO, Mike leads the organization in providing the highest quality care, ensuring that the community’s older adults lead meaningful lives with choice and dignity. Mike served in JSL’s senior management for 10 years before becoming CEO, and has more than two decades of managerial experience in the senior services profession.
In his previous role as JSL Chief Operating Officer, Mike organized several growth and planning initiatives. Throughout his tenure at JSL, King has remained committed to ensuring that JSL is at the forefront of progress in the senior living industry.
Prior to joining JSL in 2005, Mike was an Administrator at St. Ann’s Community in Rochester, where he managed operations for this large skilled nursing facility. He also spent four years as Vice President and Administrator of Record at the Weinberg Campus in Buffalo.
Mike earned a Master of Public Administration with a healthcare emphasis from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SUNY Fredonia.
Mike currently serves as Board Member for Lifespan. As a member of the governance committee he screens and nominates candidates for the Lifespan Board of Directors and participates in strategic planning initiatives for the organization. In addition to his role at Lifespan, Mike also serves as a board member for the Alzheimer’s Association and as a committee member of the Skilled Nursing Cabinet for LeadingAge New York.

Susan Bussey joined Jewish Senior Life in June, 2013. She is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of The Summit at Brighton independent living, Wolk Manor assisted living and The Lodge at Wolk Manor assisted living memory care. Susan has 23 years of management experience in operations and marketing in various senior housing settings, and in both a local and regional capacity.
Susan received her Bachelor of Science from SUNY Cortland and did her graduate studies in Healthcare Administration at SUNY Brockport.

Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Staff Development

With a focus on managing our most important resource – our employees – Emy Giacalone joined Jewish Senior Life in 2008. Emy oversees the human resources and staff development departments and brings more than 15 years experience in the field to the position. She is responsible for providing the training and development of staff to meet the innovative continuum of aging programs needed for our residents and the community at large.
Emy holds a Master of Science degree in Career and Human Resources Development from Rochester Institute of Technology, a Bachelors degree in Organization Development from Roberts Wesleyan College and a certificate in Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Deborah McIlveen has been with Jewish Senior Life for more than 20 years. She oversees financial activities here, including reimbursement, information technology, purchasing and receiving.
Debbie graduated from LeMoyne College with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She has served on various committees of the New York State Association of Homes and Services of the Aging and has been elected to executive positions for the local chapter of the Health Care Financial Management Association.

Senior Vice President/Administrator, Jewish Home of Rochester

Michele has been with the Jewish Home since 1993 and has grown along with the organization. She started as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and then went to school and became a Registered Nurse (RN). She was a Nurse Manager for four years and an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for 8 years and Director of Nursing for 5 years. Her experience and expertise make her very deserving and qualified for her new role as Senior Vice President/Administrator, where she is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Jewish Home.

Joel F. Weiss

Joel Weiss joined Jewish Senior Life in August, 2012. Joel directs the day-to-day operations of a comprehensive advancement office and plays a key role in JSL’s next phase of organizational and philanthropic growth. He is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation and management of a multi-million dollar capital campaign as part of JSL’s long range master campus plan.
With more than 35 years of non-profit and fundraising experience, including 20 years as Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts, Joel also served as the President and CEO for the United Way of Western Massachusetts and most recently as President of the Lupus Foundation New England.

Dr. Marie Aydelotte
Vice President Medical Services / Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Marie Aydelotte was appointed as Jewish Senior LIfe’s Vice President, Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer in March 2015. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing Jewish Senior Life’s Medical Department.
Dr. Aydelotte joined Jewish Senior Life’s medical department in October, 2014. She has more than 15 years’ experience as Medical Director in long-term care facilities and has an outstanding reputation in the Rochester medical community.
Dr. Aydelotte completed her M.D. degree at the University of Connecticut and her residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Geriatrics at the University of Rochester. Dr. Aydelotte is a board certified Geriatrician and is also board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice/Palliative Care.

Jane joined the organization in 2015. She brings more than 25 years of experience to the position and is responsible for all marketing and communications including brand, market growth, public relations, and community relations.

Travis Masonis joined Jewish Senior Life in August 2011. He previously worked at Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY, where he was the Director of IT Infrastructure for several years.
Travis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Information Technology and holds an M.S. in Healthcare Informatics Administration from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Vice President of Facility Services

Mark Plantholt has more than 30 years experience in the health care and facilities field. He oversees the activities of the Facilities Services Department which is comprised of Maintenance, Grounds, Housekeeping, Laundry and Security Departments at Jewish Senior Life. He also oversees all new construction, expansion and renovation projects for JSL and is currently assisting with the planning, development and implementation of the Master Campus Plan.

Christine VanVessem has worked for Jewish Senior Life since 2008 and in March, 2013 was promoted to Vice President of Staff and Organizational Development. In her new role, she provides administrative oversight to the assessment and implementation of clinical and non-clinical education to staff, and facilitates quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Christine has more than 20 years of experience in long-term care and senior living settings in a variety of management and operations capacities.

In her role as Vice President of Nursing, Deborah Wegman is responsible for overseeing nursing department operations and ensuring the quality care of the residents of the Jewish Home of Rochester.
She brings several years’ experience to Jewish Senior Life having served as Direct of Nursing at DeMay Living Center in Newark. Prior to that, she worked at the University of Rochester Medical Center for 20 years in various positions.
Deborah received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Rochester and her Master of Science in Health Systems Administration from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
