| Auxiliary
The Jewish Home Auxiliary's mission is to enrich the quality of life of the people served by the Jewish Home of Rochester. Here are some of the ways that the Auxiliary positively impacts the lives of Jewish Home residents:
- Cafe Shalom
Each day from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, volunteers serve refreshments to residents and their guests.
- Gift Shop
Our newly renovated gift shop is run by the Auxiliary, with profits supporting special projects. Items such as candy, greeting cards and gift items can be found in the Gift Shop.
- Holiday Gifts
The Auxiliary distributes gifts to Jewish Home residents and Adult Day Health Care members on Mother's Day, Father's Day and at holiday time in December.
- Calendars
Each resident is given a Jewish calendar before Rosh Hashanah.
- Welcome Wagon
Decorative gift bags containing a calendar, pad and pen, and a gift certificate to Leo's Deli are given to each resident upon move-in. Patients in transitional care are greeted by a friendly visitor and given a gift certificate for the gift shop.
- Holiday Flowers
The Auxiliary provides floral arrangements in the Goldberg Center where services are held on five major holidays, and in dining rooms on holidays.
- Shabbat Dinners
In the fall of each year, residents are invited for a traditional Friday night supper in the Atkins Center. These events are supported by the Jewish Home Auxiliary.
- Mollie Horowitz Caring Cart
Upon request, light fare is provided to families sitting in vigil.
This is just a sampling of the valuable and generous services provided by the Jewish Home Auxiliary. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the Volunteer Services Director by calling 585/784-6551 or email volunteers@jewishhomeroch.org. |
