All are experts in their fields with over 180 years of combined experience, providing a higher quality of care and innovative solutions for healthy aging.
Brian Heppard, MD
VP Medical Affairs / Medical Director / Physician House Calls

Dr. Heppard joined our staff as VP Medical Affairs in 2007, bringing his extensive experience in family medicine, geriatrics, and hospice and palliative care to Jewish Senior Life. He previously served as full-time faculty at the University of Rochester Medical Center / Highland Hospital, and currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Family Medicine at the University of Rochester, Department of Medicine, Geriatrics Division.
Dr. Heppard also heads up our Physician House Calls Program, a primary care practice for the homebound elderly. He completed his M.D. degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, and his post-graduate fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Rochester. He is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, Monroe County Medical Society, Medical Society of the State of New York, and the American Academy of Home Care Physician.

Bernard Shore, MD
Attending Physician, Long Term Care / Physician House Calls

Dr. Shore has been a member of the Jewish Home Medical Team since 1986. His gentleness with residents and focus on growing older while maintaining quality of living has made him a respected member of the Medical Team. In addition to providing care to long-term care residents, Dr. Shore also provides service to Jewish Senior Life’s Physician House Calls patients.
He previously served as Medical Director of the Jewish Home of Rochester from 1986 to 2007. He also served at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in a number of positions, including Director of Geriatric Education for the University of Rochester Highland Hospital and Medical Department. He is a member of the American Geriatrics Society and has served on the Board of Directors for the New York Medical Directors Association.
Dr. Shore completed his M.D. degree at Temple University School of Medicine. He is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Diplomate in Geriatric Medicine, and American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Lars-Goren Larsson, MD
Attending Physician, Transitional Care / Long Term Care

Dr. Larsson has over 35 years of medical experience and has been a member of our medical staff since 1994. His dedication to patients, along with his expertise in geriatrics, rehabilitation and rheumatology, is the perfect combination to help patients in our Transitional Care Center to improve strength and functionality so that they may return home safely. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Larsson completed his Ph.D. at the University of Gotegorg in Sweden, and was recognized as one of the 600 best physicians in Sweden. Upon coming to the United States in 1991, he specialized in geriatrics at Monroe Community Hospital prior to joining the Jewish Home of Rochester.

Lisa Vargish, MD
Attending Physician, Long Term Care / Physician House Calls

Dr. Lisa Vargish joined our team of medical professionals in 2009 as a full-time attending physician caring for residents of the Jewish Home, as well as participants of the Physician House Calls Program. Dr. Vargish comes to us from the University of Chicago, where she worked in the Geriatrics Department making house calls to homebound elders in Chicago, and teaching medical students and internal medicine residents. She received her M.D. from the University of Chicago, and subsequently completed her internship and residency in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She is fellowship trained in Geriatrics.
Dr. Vargish is very committed to medical research and education, and was recently an instructor at the University of Chicago Hospitals' Department of Medicine and at the Chicago Family Health Center. She is an active member of the American Geriatric Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Bonnie R. Crawford
Nurse Practitioner, Long Term Care

Bonnie Crawford brings over 35 years of experience to the Jewish Home of Rochester. She obtained her M.S. as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner at Nazareth College of Rochester. She is licensed as an Advanced Practice R.N. – Gerontology, and a licensed Professional Registered Nurse.
Ms. Crawford is a member of the Gerontological Nurse Practitioners of Greater Rochester, New York, and the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners.

Dina Santora
Nurse Practitioner, Transitional Care

Dina Santora provides expert care to patients in the Transitional Care Center at the Jewish Home, helping them to recover and return to their homes. She also assists with ongoing staff education in best practices in caring for rehabilitation patients.
Ms. Santora received her B.S in Nursing at the University of Rochester and her M.S. in Nursing at Nazareth College, where she received the Award of Excellence as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. She has been a Medical Nursing instructor at Monroe Community College and has served as a registered nurse, nurse manager and nurse practitioner in nearly every acute care setting in Rochester. She is a member of the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners, the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Beverly J. Provo
Nurse Practitioner, Transitional Care

Beverly Provo has over 35 years of nursing experience. She joined Jewish Senior Life in 1998 and today provides care to patients in our Transitional Care Center.
Ms. Provo received her Masters' Degree in Public Administration, Health Care from SUNY Brockport, and is a graduate of the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program at Nazareth College.She is a member of both the National and Local Nurse Practitioner Affiliations of the American Geriatric Society, and a professional member of the American Red Cross.
