For individuals experiencing difficulty swallowing, Outpatient Rehab at Jewish Senior Life provides on-site Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES). A certified Endoscopist, who is also a Speech Language Pathologist, completes an evaluation on the individual. The evaluation provides for a thorough assessment of the individual's swallowing ability, determines appropriate treatment techniques and other management options. The FEES evaluation is key for individuals experiencing difficulty after:
· Stroke
· Parkinson’s Disease
· Head injuries
· General neurological disorders
· Cognitive impairments
· Head and/or neck surgeries
Outpatient Rehabilitation is proud to offer Bioness, an award-winning and innovative rehabilitation technology designed to benefit individuals who have been afflicted with neurological disorders, including stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, Cerebral Palsy and spinal cord injury. Bioness uses low-level electrical stimulation to help people regain mobility and independence, to improve quality of life and productivity. We are the only outpatient rehabilitation center from Rochester to Syracuse to offer both the NESS H200 Hand Rehabilitation System and the NESS L300 Foot Drop System. Bioness systems have been showcased on segments of The Today Show and Good Morning America, and featured in a story in USA Today.
We have recently partnered with Rochester Rehabilitation’s DriveOn program to help seniors drive safely, comfortably and stress-free. Together, our occupational therapists work with DriveOn’s experienced driver specialists to evaluate driving ability and create a customized driver training program to help you maintain your independence.
In addition to our main location at the Jewish Home of Rochester, we have added a new satellite location at the Jewish Community Center for your physical therapy needs.
